Let's begin your music journey ✨
The De Emily Junior Course (DEJC) is a comprehensive one-year preparatory program designed specifically for 3.5 to 4-year-old beginners as they begin their musical and pianistic journey. This course provides a thoughtfully structured pathway that bridges early childhood music education with formal piano training.
Grounded in child development principles, DEJC integrates group-based learning, musical play, and progressive keyboard activities to nurture the essential foundations required for successful future piano study. Throughout the year, students develop core musicianship skills including steady beat, rhythm accuracy, pitch recognition, listening awareness, ensemble coordination, and early music-reading readiness.
Our curriculum emphasises a holistic approach:
Aural & Listening Skills: Training students to listen actively, recognise sounds, and respond musically.
Motor & Coordination Development: Preparing young learners for confident keyboard technique through age-appropriate exercises.
Musical Literacy Foundations: Introducing pre-reading concepts such as patterns, direction, and simple notation.
Creative Expression: Encouraging improvisation, singing, movement, and musical storytelling.
Classroom Readiness: Building focus, discipline, sharing skills, and the ability to follow structured instructions in a group setting.
By the end of the program, students emerge with a well-rounded musical foundation and are fully prepared to transition into individual 1-to-1 piano lessons with confidence, maturity, and a clear understanding of basic musical concepts. DEJC ensures that every child steps into private piano study not as a beginner, but as a musically ready and motivated learner.
